Hi Paul,
What is special about this lens? And why you call it a bargain?

Jos,

The SMC 35/2K is regarded as the third-best Pentax 35mm lens ever made; the
two best are the 35/2 FA and the 35/3.5K. So the 35/2K is the best 35 that
is both fast and manual focus. I am including screwmount 35mm lenses among
the possible "best."

A more typical price is $200 to $250.

I own the 35/2K. It replaced my 35/2M. Both are excellent. The K is a bit
sharper at f/2 and f/2.8. Also, its colors are, I think, more saturated.
Both provide excellent geometry.

If anyone finds a Vivitar Auto Wide Angle 35/1.9K (1975) or Soligor C/D
Wide-Auto 35/2K (1875), please let me know. They appear on EBay all the
time, but not in K mount. I think they were made by Konica. They are
all-metal and strongly resemble Konica's excellent 9-element, 7-group
Hexanon AR 35/2 lens. The Vivitar came in two versions. One went to f/16 and
focused to 1.3 feet. The other went to f/22 but focuses only to 1.4 feet. I
don't know which came first or which is better. I know that the Vivitar's
front element does not rotate.

I have photos of both Vivitars, the Soligor, and the Hexanon, if anyone is
interested.

Why am I interested in acquiring these, if I love my SMC 35/2K? Because I'm
crazy.
