Hi Paul, I suggest that, unless you have the necessary skills, you should take it to a competent repairer.
However, if you do have the necessary skills, you will need to remove the iris diaphragm assembly and immerse it in solvent. The solvent will dissolve the helicoid lubricant that has found its way into the iris diaphragm blades/mechanism. Many repairers would include this in the cost of a CLA, which would be worth having done anyway if you intend to keep the lens. And it's worth keeping; I have the later SMC Takumar version, which differs only very slightly in its coating, and it is a beautiful lens, with high resolution and contrast and pleasant bokeh.
