Hi Paul,

The parallax issue (upper lens/lower lens) is easily solved using an
accessory called a "Paramender" because it "mends" parallax.  

The Paramender fits between the base of the camera and the tripod
(or monopod) head.  It allows you to raise the camera after viewing so 
that the taking lens moves to exactly the height that the viewing lens was 
at.  The result is *zero* parallax error.  

Paramenders often appear on eBay.

As others have already suggested, the left/right reversal in the 
viewfinder can be solved either by using an accessory prism finder
or the direct vision sports "finder".  With practice, it ceases to
become a problem anyway, but that's only practicable if you do a
lot of work with a TLR/SLR with a waist level finder.  If, like most of
us, you're an occasional user, it needs to be re-learned over and
over again!
