Hi

I own a Pentax MZ-6 with Pentax SMC FA 28-90mm (f3.5-5.6) lens. Here's the
senario:
Indoor, raining day, the subject sits by a large sliding glass door. I
set the camera to AutoPic mode, the LCD displays f4.5 @45 with Auto
flash On. I then switch to Manual metering and set f-stop & speed to the
same values (f4.5 @45) and pop up the built-in flash. Strangely, the camera
blinks the '-' (minus) symbol on the bar graph to indicate more than -2
EV. In both cases, I leave the focal length at 50mm.

1. Why does the camera think it's OK in AutoPic mode but 2 stop
underexposed in Manual mode?

2. Does the camera take the flash into account when it sets f-stop &
speed in AutoPic mode? I mean, when it says f4.5 @45, has the camera
included the light from the flash already?

3. In Manual metering, if I turn on the built-in flash, how do I adjust
the f-stop & speed to 'compensate' for the additional light from the
flash? When I use the buit-in flash, often I get shadow behind the
subject, would a dedicated flash unit eliminate the shadow?

TIA
Nghia
