I saw a special on TLC about the human face.  It turns out that the
"most beautiful"faces as chosen by an international focus group had many
of the major facial ratios, e.g., center of mouth to edge of cheek /
center of mouth to end of lips,  in the golden ratio, 1.61. . .   There
is no question that the human brain has some very specialized algorithms
for recognizing the human face.  If the golden ratio is part of that,
then it would have a natural appeal in architecture as well.
