Well, in the original Modern Photo review of the VS1 90/2.5 Macro, for all apertures, it resolved "only" (<g>) 50 to 64 lpm in the center and "only" (<g>) 45 to 56 lpm in the corners at 1:50 magnification, while it did resolve 87 to 109 lpm in the center and 77 to 109 lpm in the corners at 1:9.7 magnification. So, I guess one could infer that the VS1 90/2.5 may have indeed been optimized for closer distances - <g>. Fred
