Har is Hebrew for mountain.

In English, it means, basically, "Ha!" or "Ha-ha!" The long version is
"hardee-har-har!" I have no idea why, any more than Spock could understand
why humans say to babies, "Kootchie-kootchie-koo!"

I once worked with a man from India--a PhD--who had taught himself English.
He would come up to me and ask, "Paul, I heard a word today on the radio;
tell me, what does it mean?" I was waiting for the day he'd ask, "I heard
this song on the radio; what does it mean, "Doo-wa-ditti ditti-dum ditti-dum
ditti-dum?"
