So, yesterday was Hockey Day In Canada, the day that all six Canuck NHL
teams face off in a tripleheader, plus all day hockey programming on the
CBC. The name comes from Hockey Night in Canada, the Saturday night
institution on the CBC. Of course, our beloved Toronto Maple Leafs
pounded the crap out of poor ol' Montreal. ;)
Vanessa, my girlfriend, was playing in a tournament in Durham (at Don
Beer Arena, yep, dat's a Canadian rink fer shure), so I
celebrated Hockey Day In Canada by shootin' pix of women's hockey all
day long, and man, am I ever happy with the results (the joy of having a
lab and having to work on Sunday is that when it's slow you can get your
own work done pretty quick). After several months of practicing, I
think I'm finally getting into the swing of shooting hockey.
Anyhow, I was shooting Provia 400F at 1600, and I'm sold on it. It
totally rocks at 1600. I'm currently tweaking the scans I made at the
store just before I left (I'm on the GO train heading to Pickering now,
because they're in the final in about an hour), and then one day this
week I'll paste together a quick'n'dirty little page of the highlights
if anyone wants to see. I scanned 'em all at 4000dpi, so I'll include a
detail shot or two so youse all can see the grain.
On a Pentax-related note, I was shooting with Mister LX and Mister
SMC-A* 200mm f2.8. Sometimes I feel like that 200 is the only lens I
own...prolly because it's the nicest and I want to use it all of the
time. :)
