Dear Heiko,

Thank you. That's very illustrating. How big is the anglebetween the
table and the test target?
30 degrees. I think this is a good angle such that range of ruler in-focus can clearly be shown on the result photographs.

And how big was the distance between camera
and test target? Is a certain distance recommended or can you choose it
depending on the lens?
My test was performed at 2m distance. First, there is limitation of room in my house. Secondly, the closer the distance, you can reduce the DOF to make the DOF result easier to be seen.

I'm not sure that this is a problem. I would scond Graywof who said that
this is more a feature than a problem.
To me, this is a problem because I take a lot of close portrait shots and use my 300/4.5 wide-opened for wildlife shots. I can't get photos with sharp eyes of the model with AF alone. The test taught me that, if I want to get sharp focus on the model's eye with AF, I need to point the AF sensor to her ears!

I will try to make this test with my MZ-5n and
my Optio :-) at the next opportunity but this might take some time.
I don't think you can test the Optio because the DOF is too big. The whole ruler will be in focus. For your MZ-5n, you need to test it with a lens with small DOF, i.e. a large aperture lens or a telephoto lens.
