That would be consistent with the other things going on. Canon will be tiering their digital ... and ... introduce a 9Mp based on the cheap Rebel body. The "pro" model will get a new, superfast, AF System. $4000. The "amateur" model will get the EOS 3 AF system. $1500. I've seen some of this on a French web site. Must be true.
SPECULATION: I wouldn't be surprised to see Pentax produce two dslr bodies. One geared toward the light pro, but priced down. Typical of their history. The other geared toward the amateur. Maybe manual focus??? (Maybe a digital ZX-M or 5n, perfect for the amateur learner??) Anyway, an APS sized sensor DSLR isn't very prestigious anymore. As the new DSLR is supposedly built on a new chassis, I believe this could be the introduction of a totally new generation of cameras.
