I don't know, Paul - I don't see any obvious distortion in the
photo.  As for the "diverging edges of the buildings", all I see is
the perspective effect of using a 28mm wide-angle, rather than a
bending of straight lines due to barrel or pincushion distortion.
I'm also not claiming that there is no distortion produced by this
lens, but I just don't see it (yet) in the photo.

By the way, Modern Photography, in its review of this lens, found
less than 1% pincushion distortion in this "29.18mm" "f/1.93" (<g>)
lens, which I think is really quite good for a wideangle.  In any
event, since JCO didn't photograph a nice brick wall (since he
obviously couldn't be torn away from relaxing at the pool - <g>), I
think it would be difficult to see evidence of less than 1%
pincushion distortion in his particular test photo.
