Steve, >From what I understand, the older 150/2.8 isn't that great, but I have not tried it. I have both the 165/2.8 and the 165/4 Leaf Shutter lens. I have them both because they are slightly different. The 2.8 is a bit brighter to work with and in low light (wedding receptions) it can be easier to focus with. It is also longer than the LF lens. The big advantage to the LF lens is that it can flash synch at up to 1/500. Big help in the right situation. That is the main reason I bought it. I couldn't say that either lens produces better images than the other, even though their optical formulas are different. Of the two, the leaf shutter would probably be my first choice if you are going to do flash fill. If not, the 2.8 lens is cheaper. Both produce very nice images.
