Someday, somebody will invent a dynamic dedicated hood for zooms, so that the length and shape changes as you zoom :-)

It's not automatic but will fit all my 49mm lenses.(Available in other diameters too) I just bought a rubber 49mm lens hood made in Germany by Hama. The model number is 92949 . Price was $15.
