The only other Pentax hood I know about which might work is the nicely made
metal hood for the Takumar-Zoom 1:4.5 85-210. It actually looks great on my
FA 100/2.8 Macro, and does not vignette looking through the finder of an LX
even at 1:1 magnification..

Dan,
The hood that John refers to is identical to the black threaded metal hoods
made for the Pentax SMC 135/2.5K and one other Pentax or Takumar prime or
zoom; I think the SMC 200/4K. Steve Larson and I use it on our 90/2.5 1:2
macros by Vivitar and Tokina. You can always find one or the other available
on Ebay, at KEH, or at another mail-order dealer.

There really aren't many other choices out there is you're looking for a
threaded metal hood. Minolta made a beauty for one of its old 85/1.8 but
it's hard to find; I ordered one from Adorama, only to be told, "Sorry, it's
damaged."

The telephoto hood at

is 1.5 inches deep (about 40mm) and looks about right.
