I don't know, of course, but I doubt it's something that is being driven by PR considerations. Rather, they'd probably prefer to introduce it tomorrow if they could, but the product simply isn't ready for market yet. I've had some confidential conversations with one of the engineers on a digital SLR project for another manufacturer--not Pentax and he told me tales of sleepless nights and months without spending time with his children.
