The myth of "ist" and 67III

It appears to me that the rumours of the new Pentax cameras "ist" and 67III come from a recent interview of the President of Pentax in Japan. During the interview, he said that compact and simple are the major direction of current Pentax camera development and Pentax is developing a compact version of the 67 camera. He quoted the highly popular "ist" series of small car from Toyota as the example and role model for Pentax:

"ist" means "for your first".

As the result of the interview and rumours of new series of digital camera, the price of Pentax shares in the Tokyo Stock Exchange rised dramatically in the past few days (from the 50-week low point of 150yen to 190yen). Last year, the President has promised in his inaugural interview that the share price of Pentax will rise to 1000 yen in a year. But the promise never materize.
