I have 2 pictures from the D1 printed with the Canon
BCI 6 archival(25 year)inks on my wall,no glass frame etc.They
have been up, in diffused light in my livingroom, for about
6 months and the other 8 months. No colour loss
fading noticed to date. These are my guinee pigs:)
However my printing monitor is about to die, fuzzy on
start up fo about an hour then gets a bit sharper.Prints
are not coming out as monitor shows,so its time for a new one.
What luck.A survey firm went under in Toronto and they are
auctioning off equipment.Several 17" Viewsonic moniors
available, amoung tons of survey gear. Now to get the boss to bid on
one for me<VBG>

experience) the
picture starts fading away to oblivion. Never mind I guess, just print
another one. Someone could make money out of this (I mean other than
ink
manufacturers) you could keep selling the same picture to the same
person!
Just kidding.

Using digital to photographic paper output, digital source images
will be as
long lived as any photograph. Image permanence is much less of an
issue than
digital file permanence.
