I just looked and surprisingly, it isn't much bigger, it just looks it!
Lengthwise it's only about 3/8" bigger. It a bit fatter as the 24-90 has a 67mm filter size as opposed to the 58 of the 28-105. I think it probably looks bigger because I tend to keep the tulip hood inverted on the lens.
The 28-105/3.2-4.5 is a perfect match for the ZX-5n (IMHO!)
