The digital imaging technology is too young for a "fixed" standard now. Look what happened with audio CDs. They used 16 bit and 44Khz sampling because thats all they could process and fit on a disc in 1980. I have hundreds of LPS (analog) that sound far better than even the finest CDs and were still stuck with CDs only for most new music 20 years later. Theyve developed DVD-Audio and SACD to solve the problem, but very few titles available... A new DSLR "standard" might also mean trashing our entire collections of pentax glass.... Not an appealing thought to me at all. JCO
