We are not out any money. I presume that if I had sent them money via
PayPal, they would have returned it, but I did not try. The only "damage"
here is to the principle that the seller should honor their contract to
sell. The (automated?) reply I got from eBay after filing a complaint said
in part: "We consider refusal to sell to be a very serious matter . . ."

I would probably ignore the whole thing, as I have in the past ignored a
buyers who changed his mind and decided he didn't need that fishing pole
after all, but a business with over 25,000 listings per month should be held
to a higher standard in my humble opinion.
