Dear Chris,

Except for the fact that the Nikon has its lens swivel on a different axis
than its LCD, which is kinda neat. Also, if its features resemble in any
way those of current Nikons (spot meter, incredible macro, very good
continuous shooting, best shot selector, etc.), it's going to be a nice
little camera. Not saying it's better than the Optio S, just that it's a
bit premature to be declaring victory for either side.
I understand your argument.

What I wrote the declaration on Pentax's victory, is that Nikon is going to promote this new coolpix camera as "compact and super-quick" during the coming PMA. Obviously, it is not in the same league as Optio S in these two aspect.

I also doubt whether the new Nikon is going to have good handling and be user friendly. By cutting the small body into two halves, there is not much space for logical arrangment of control buttons and the LCD in a convenient manner. When pressing the buttons at the camera back, your fingers/hand probably might block the LCD viewing. There might not be sufficent space on the camera back for hand griping too. The flash is also too close to the lens, causing heavy red-eyes problem.

Regards,

Henry Chu
