Hi!

I've been thinking lately... Take my SMC FA 50/1.7 lens. Standard
well-known Pentax lens, isn't it? Let's mount it on my ZX-L, again
rather usual Pentax body of today.

Consider this:

1. On aperture ring there is only one click between
f/1.7 and f/2.8. Body reports the click as f/2.4. From the body I can
set it on f/2.0 and f/2.4...

2. On aperture ring there are no clicks for f/19 and f/13. However I
can set these from the body. I've just tried and it appears that I can
set the lens to both of these apertures (according to the body) but
there is no click. So, obviously, if I had to set either of these on
the lens real fast I had no chance of knowing how I did... And of
course, to me the lack of the click but ability to set the aperture
looks like a hack, not a real feature.

So we're talking here about standard lens that basically has three
apertures that are unsettable from the non-A body.

Not that I rant or something. And I don't think anyone here is
particularly frustrated by that. However it looks like a little part
of J in FA mount is already here and for some quite time too ...

Just my observation...
