CBWaters asked: "If a person had a roll of Fuji Superia X-Tra 800 and really
needed a bit more speed, could said person who is too cheap, lazy, and
unprepared to buy faster film just tell the camera (MZ-5N) that it's something
faster, shoot the roll and have it processed?"

Yes you can.
Take this response w/ a grain of salt as it comes from someone w/ more film on
her hands than experience. I used a ZX-5n w/ a non-2.8 tele zoom at an indoor
ice show. I had 2 rolls of Superia Xtra 800 (one shot @ 1600, one @ 800), a
roll of Fuji Press 1600, and a roll of NPZ 800 shot @ 1600.

The Xtra 800 shot @ 1600 was developed normally for ISO 800. EI 1600 got me
better shutter speeds so I didn't get so much blur from the skaters. To my
relatively inexperienced eyes on 4x6 prints, the Xtra @ 1600 wasn't noticeably
different than shooting @ 800 if the subjects were static. The Press 1600 was
definitely more grainy though. Grain wise, I think I did better w/ the Xtra 800
shot @ EI 1600. I'd been told that NPZ does pretty well @ EI 1600, but I wasn't
prepared for the flatter colors that resulted (portrait film DUH!) compared to
the Xtra 800 @ 1600.

I realize this comparison crossed the lines btw Fuji Press and Superia Xtra
lines but Superia doesn't seem to come in ISO 1600.

I hope this was useful,
