<<Perhaps someone can clarify the situation with
Chinon lenses. As I recall, Chinon designed its bodies
to work in Program mode with both Rikenon P and
Pentax A lenses. I don't know which contact was used
by its own lenses, the A or the P.>>

I have both a CP-5 and CP-6 bodies which have 2 level
program modes, P1 and P2. I also have the normal lens
associated with these cameras, 50mm f1.8. It looks
just like an "M" series lens. There is NO electrical
contact between the lens and body other than the
aperture lever, i.e. there is no "A" or "P" setting on
the lens. Here is how I understand it works. On the
lens the f16 is in green and the P1 and P2 settings on
the camera are also in green. According to the user
guide the camera assumes f16 as the min aperture when
using the program mode and makes its exposure
adjustments based on that assumption. You can use any
lens, not just Chinon, in program mode if you just
manually set the lens to F16 when using either program
mode.

I use all of my K-mount lenses on these bodies with no
problems, but admit that I do not use the program
modes very much at all, but it does work. I tend to
use the aperture priority mode or the manual mode. On
my PZ-20 the 50mm f1.8 Chinon seems to work like any
"M" series lens, the camera defaults to manual mode,
set the aperture on the lens and adjust the exposure
using the wheel. There is nothing on the mount of the
lens to interfere with anything on the body mount. I
don't know anything aboout any later versions of
Chinon lenses. Chinon did have an autofocus lens
available for this body but it was fully self
contained utilizing a set of 3 electrical contacts on
the outside of the lens mount, under the right side of
the pentaprism, but no mechanical connections. I have
seen these lenses on ebay but have had no desire to
purchase one.
