Anyone who can explain the difference between light measuring via SPD and GPD cells? Pros and cons? TIA

Very similar in performance. I'll let another PDMLer go into details, as I arrived at the conclusion that from a pragmatical point of view, they perform about equally. But I would like to know the details also... For example, why did the LX arrived with SPD while the MX was built with GPD (which is more expensive to produce)?
