I'm not fretting about the *ist-D, it looks to me like a *very* nice
camera and a perfect compliment to a full-frame DSLR, which I hope and
expect we'll have eventually. Perhaps two years, but maybe less. 

What's amazing is that this camera appears to be quite competitive with
the D-60/10D/D100-class cameras. The D-60 was only introduced about a
year ago! In other words, Pentax went from being not in the game at all
to only about a year behind in one fell swoop. They may have caught up
entirely with the second-tier DSLRs (ie, not the EOS 1D and 1Ds). That's
a remarkable achievement.
