Hold on with the "improvement" in AF. The 10D uses basically the same AF sensor array and 7 point autofocus system that the Elan 7 does. The Elan 7 does not have an infrared AF assist light. In low light situations, without the dedicated 420EX flash (which does have an AF assist lamp), the Elan7 can and usually does hunt quite a bit, sometimes not being able to focus. How do I know this? I own an Elan 7 and an Elan II. The Elan II is far better at autofocusing in low light due to it's autofocus assist infrared beam.
