Gotta side with BR on this.I picked up some nice
used Nikon f2.8 glass that i think is fantastic,that i use with the 
D1(and F90X) and i payed less than $1000 US for the 2 zooms (used.)I 
tried to
stay with Pentax on my AF but the price drove me to the big N.

Mis-informed. Try checking the B&H prices for identical, new, AF 
lenses 
and see what the prices are. Many of the Nikon (US) prices for 
primes 
are lower some are higher. A blanket statement would be WRONG.
