But since you don't need an 85 for general-purpose use, let me suggest a
third option: the Helios 40-2, an 85/1.5. It's a screwmount preset lens, and
it's HUGE and HEAVY, so it's somewhat more difficult to use. And it's not
very sharp until about f/5.6. But, based on what I've read, it may have the
best bokeh and color for about $150. And those are two qualities that you
want for pleasing portraits. Its diaphragm has something like 12 blades, for
incredibly even lighting.

Paul, what does a round aperture have to do with even lighting (over the frame?)?
