Hi all,

I've just bought an AF Adapter 1.7X from a fellow PDMLer, and it seems
there's something wrong with it (the adapter, not the man :-) It seems the
adapter is focusing closer than it should (from 0.5 cm to a few cm - that's
1/5 of an inch, and then a few inches for those not so familiar with the
metric system). The difference is smaller with shorter distances and bigger
with longer distances. I'm using a FA 50/1.4. Focus confirmation indicates
the subjet's in focus, but it's not.

Some of you may remember that some time ago I asked about possible problems
with my MZ-S's autofocus, but after shooting a roll of slides I determined
that everything was fine. And then the differences between what the AF
indicated and what my eye claimed was sharp were really minimal - with the
adapter they're much greater, and therefore I tend to think that it's the
adapter's fault.

And now to my question. I have only one AF body - my second camera is an MX,
so I have no way to check it on another AF camera (at least today). Does the
adapter work on a manual focus body as a regular teleconverter and I should
be able to focus from short distances to infinity?

Thanks in advance,
Łukasz

PS. And yes - I'll shoot a test roll of slides with the adapter anyway.
