Just a few of the shots from this month's Gallery that screamed out to
me:

"Working on the Computer" by Michael Cross:

What a beautiful child! And, you caught her in a lovely, candid,
unaffected pose, which really makes the shot.

"Walking" by Leon Altoff:

A lovely, genteel shot. Even without knowing that she's walking for the
first time after rehab, the photo just speaks to me. Terrific shadows,
I also like the way you used to posts or columns or whatever to frame
her.

"Bull Toss" by Cory Waters:

You really caught the moment on that one! <g>

"Scene from a New York City Fish Market":

I think the so-called "technical faults" are what make this pic. The
out of focus arm on the left, the tilt, they all give the photo a
dynamicism (is that a word?) that evokes the hustle and bustle of a fish
market.

"David Blowin'" by Andre Langevin:

I love shots of musicians on stage, and I'm not very good at them, so
maybe that's why I like this so much. The out-of-focus musician in the
foreground (lovely bokeh, btw) frames the subject beautifully, and you
did a great job of capturing a nice moment.

"Reality TV" by Paul Stenquist:

The overexposed, washed-out background really snaps the foreground to
one's attention. A very disquieting shot, it reminds me of the John
Cusack puppeteer character from Being John Malkovitch. This guy is
scarier, though.

"On the Bubble" by Steve Larsen:

Great reaction, Steve! I'm sure Mike Johnston likes this one, too, but
just can't admit it. <vbg>

"Clearing" by Simon King:

I love ships, and I especially like the way the clouds frame this one.
And of course, what makes the shot is the retreating storm! Great mood.

"Red Wing" by YP Yan:

I like airplanes a lot too. Kripes, I've taken ~so many~ shots of the
wing out of an airplane window, and they never look this good! Even
without that amazing sky in the background, the composition of the wing
alone is amazing. Throw in that sunset, along with the perfect horizon
(or is that just a change in the sky's colour?), and I love it!

"Your Ordinary Cup of Tea" by Ray Ford:

I'm consistently amazed at how the ordinary and mundane can be
transformed into art, if well-photographed! Great composition - and
the clouds descending from the tea bag! Nothing ordinary about this
photo, imho...

"Spiral to the Roof" by Frits Wuthrich:

It's pretty hard to take an interesting photograph of a place or thing
as often-photographed as the Guggenheim, but I think you've done it. I
think 28mm was obviously (given the results) the best choice of lens
here. It has an abstract feel to it that I like(although I was pretty
sure that it was the Guggenheim just from looking at the thumb! <g>).

"Dunas" by Luis Cruz:

I have no idea what "Dunas" means, and I also have no idea what's being
photographed, but it looks pretty cool!

Lots of other wonderful shots, but those are the ones that grabbed my by
the collar, and said, "You must comment on these!" As always, a
terrific gallery!

cheers,
frank
