Nope, you did not come across as insulting. I am sorry if my response made you feel this way. In fact, I don't get insulted if someone attacks so to say Soviet engineering or everything else Soviet. I am not pro Soviet (hmm, now we're talking politics), but IMHO, Soviet regime was a valid way to run a state. After all roughly 200 million people all together lived there. It had its flaws but it was reasonable. Having said that, I am definitely glad I managed to escape.
