I also suspect that silver Limiteds are more durable in finish. The thing I like the least about my 77 is the silver finish. It reminds me of a 1950's Contaflex lens. Not that there is anything wrong with 1950's Contaflex lenses, compared to other lenses of the same era, but the thing looks dated, and dated looks cheap. William Robb
