What is the dif between spot metering and center weight?
Spot meter measures only the very centre (about 5%?) of the picture area while centre-weighted measures the whole picture area with emphasis toward the centre. Every manufacturer and camera model has slightly different pattern so you have to check the manuals or brochures.
Sorry. I meant Z... (or I guess SF)
I have never used SF cameras unfortunately... :(
So I guess the question is the following. It seems I've been talked out of most of the MZ/ZX series because of its manual focus acapabilites... (good job, keep it up and then I will have to spend no money at all :))
I admit that I don't consider the whole MZ/ZX series because of their poor viewfinder by my own standard. But I assume I belong to the minority. I suggest you tried them out before your final decision. You cannot believe everything I have said, can you? :-)
So the MZ-S and the Z/SF series are my options. (and the *ist which has not been tested by any of us... so I'll wait... :))
I persinally would not expect too much from the *ist viewfinder since they have to do whatever they could to cut down the cost (especially with a feature rich affordable body like this). Most consumers paid for quantity instead of quality.
Out of these which one has the best manual focus capability? (in all of your h opinios of course...)
Since I have never used the SF, the choice is between MZ-S & Z-1p. The Z-1p has 0.8X but with uncoated plastic eyepiece (don't rub it whenever possible), while MZ-S has coated glass eyepiece but with 0.75X. I am afraid there is no clear winner. Only you can decide.
