Douglas Adams, a highly sentient, Mac-favoring lifeform, is the author of the hitchhiker series. Terry Pratchett, part-time genius, is author of the discworld series (among other things). Personal favorites are Hogfather (Death fills in for the Hogfather), Small Gods, and Maskerade. Oh, and just to keep it on topic, I'm certain I've successfully rested assorted bits of Pentax gear on books made of paper, much like these are, with no noticeable ill effects.
