What tells me that I finally have enough gear is that when I wander into a camera shop, I'm looking for things like Pentax rear lens caps, or a good used grad filter.
For example, I've got a tripod for the car, a tripod for the house, a mini-tripod for the camera bag, and a monopod for other times. Occasionally, I'll see a bargain that's hard to resist (grabbed that 40/2.8 pancake lens for $125 Cdn), but I've got all the lenses I _need_. When I was a mechanic, one day I realized that if someone said to me, "There's the Snap-On truck, go in and take what you want for free!", I wouldn't bother. I seem to have all the tools I need, too. I'd really like a newer computer, but that would cause the *ist D to become a must-have, so I'll soldier on with my Pentium "classic" for now. Pat White
