too bad... Even if the *ist can meter with K and M lenses, it's of no use if you only can use them at the widest aperture setting. I was hoping for something better...
Oh well, I have to wait for the more upmarket *ist's then.

Yes, but I only got a time changing between two numbers (500 and 750). Changing the aperture didn't change the time. I have thought about this again and again and I reread Boz's KMP infos and I came to the conclusion, that my observations confirm Boz's explanations on http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/
BTW the numbers on the *ist are different:
Custom function 17 = 1:
If the *ist detects that the lens aperture is not in the "A" setting, >it does not allow a picture to be taken at all (text form Boz). This is >the MZ-30/ZX-30 and MZ-60/ZX-60 behaviour.
Custom function 17 = 2:
This was the first body that featured the "crippled" KAF mount. When this body detects that the lens aperture is not in the "A" setting or there isn't such a setting, it meters and exposes the film as if the lens is set to its widest aperture (again Boz's text). This is the MZ- 50/ZX-50 behaviour.
Again - the piece I handled was not a real production model. But I'm
afraid that the *ist works exactly as described. This would also fit to
Pal's info that the *ist is entry level. Using a *ist makes only sense
with SMC-A, -F, -FA and -FAJ lenses. But I'm quite sure that we will >see some kind of top level *ist modell with full KAF2 mount (pure
speculation).
