I looked at the same worded response from Gary 4 days ago, and here are my 
observations:
In both the messages the original text is not displayed, and the same text is 
used in the reply. This indicates to me it is an automatically sent message 
based on some filter rule.

In more cases, I see an email from Colin where 'Colin Brendemuehl' is the 
sender, and there is not response from Gary.
In both cases there is also a message from Colin with 'collinb' as the sender 
(same email address though) and in both cases the flame email is a response 
of that email. (My email client, KMail, shows which email is a reply to which 
email) So this further strengthens my impression Gary has set up a filter to 
send this flame email when the email is send by 'collinb'.

I didn't discovere why he did that, my email program didn't tell me that yet.
