Hi All,
I've discovered something about my MEII winder that has me wondering.
The winder bearing on my Program A is on the way out (after some accidental
percussive trauma I caused). Although the tech that I took it to said he
could easily replace it, I decided that since I use the MEII winder with it
most of the time, I'd just wait until the bearing on the camera actually
broke before fixing it.
I use the winder on the camera because it is much easier for me to hold and
I far prefer the feel. However I also rarely use it to actually trip the
shutter and wind the film because it's so noisy and I don't like the
location of the button. This isn't a complaint - just my preference.

What I discovered yesterday was that if the MEII winder is in "S" mode and
the shutter isn't cocked, it simply winds the film on and cocks the shutter.
This suits me perfectly as I can continue to use the (much quieter) camera
shutter release, and then wind/cock using the MEII.
My only concern is that I'm in some way damaging the camera, as this is
obviously not what the winder was intended for. The instructions are no
help, as they don't mention this in the "precautions" section.
Does anyone else use their winder in this way?
Cheers,
Simon

CNN/Reuters:
News reports have filtered out early this morning that US forces have
swooped on an Iraqi Primary School and detained 6th Grade
teacher Mohammed Al-Hazar. Sources indicate that, when arrested, Al-Hazar
was in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a set square and a
calculator.
US President George W Bush argued that this was clear and overwhelming
evidence that Iraq indeed possessed weapons of maths instruction.
