>It fills the time until something significant comes up. Well, you say that Len, but actually I think discussion like this is very significant because it represents one aspect of humanity doing some quite serious collective thinking. In fact, believe it or not, points raised could well be taken into account by others dipping in who may well indeed have some sort of input one day into designing the way these definitions are attributed in various forms. For instance: the point was made that a certain competition would not accept inkjet prints. I have heard of other similar discrimination. There are those of us that would say that of course the competition organisers can discriminate as they damn-well please. But then there are those who would say hang on a minute - it's a photo competition and as such should be open to any existing method of producing a photo (definition unknown ;-) including producing prints by darkroom wet method, inkjet, dye- sublimation, laser, whatever. Indeed, as someone pointed out, you can shoot on digital and have a neg or tranny made from the file and then print from that! These things are important and need considering during this period of fundamental change in the way people record images and produce prints. Of course, it is a fair argument to say that the PDML is the wrong forum for such a discussion, and I would agree this is off-topic.....or is it? Plenty of Optio users here, and a few chomping at the bit for a Risk D.... these issues will have to be faced because one day, somehow, it will jump up and bite you in the butt ! ;-) Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ || (O) | People, Places, Pastiche ||=====| www.macads.co.uk/snaps _____________________________ Free UK Mac Ads www.macads.co.uk
