Alan, I don't know anyone who has bought a Sigma lens that ever lived up to the wonderful optical performance of those samples made available to magazine reviewers. I'm told that one reason Sigma glass gets good reviews is that the reviewer always gets to keep the lens ... I coveted the Sigma 15-30mm EX lens after reading a review in "Amateur Photographer" which praised it to the heavens. However two friends bought them and were extremely disappointed. One got a refund, the other got a new lens and *then* got a refund, because it was even worse than the first. John
