Hi New Guy,
As much as I've said regarding my preference for using primes, we have a
Tamron 28-300 lens on my wife's ZX-10.
I consider it a very nice lens. It's been on the camera for about a year
and a half with no problems. I like the fact that it has a barrel lock
which will prevent the lense from extending to it's full length when hanging
around your neck (unlike my FA 28-200 from Pentax).
Some PUG links to pictures with this lens:

It is a hefty lens and I would suspect it would serve you well. IMO, it was
the most bang for the buck and the 50% extra range is worth it over a 200mm
lens. It has a precision feel and focuses quickly. I definitely prefer it
to my Pentax FA 80-320, which is a slow focuser.

70-300mm zoom lens I propose to use with my ZX-7.

standing) and whether or not I should think about some alternative if this
purchase would not be wise.
