You'll never know until it actually breaks.


Here's some calculation:

supposing you scan all your films with a 8000 dpi scanner. this will give you a 255 MB tif file per frame (at only 8 bit color depth per channel). or 3 frames per CD. 9500/3 -> 3167 CDs. Using standard CD cases (1 cm thick), this would be a 31 meters high stack of CDs. A ten floors building.
