Jim, I was on the THK (Slik distributor, USA) site the other day, and while Slik has a whole raft of new 'pods, I did not see anything specifically to stabilize vertical shots. I have and use a Slik 300DX, and its head is designed so that I can clamp a small vice-grip to the head to stabilize in vertical. I modified the vice-grip by adding rubber tubing to its jaws. Works for me.
BTW, I think the ergonomics and design of the better Slik tripods leave Manfrotto way behind.

Does anyone know if Slik still sells a tripod that can prevent "vertical creep" when shooting with a long tele lens vertically say on an LX or ES II?
