Frankly, I don't think people should care about this at all. The point I'm trying to
make out is that there often is a far cry from these tests and real life performance.
Also, people should rather trust their own experience and opinions from from real life
usage from people they trust. In addition, CDI perform this test because it sells
magazines; not because they want to establish absolute truths.
I don't think test like photodo do anyone a favour. Some diagrams and curves don't
tell the whole story behind a lens. Look at the Photodo test of the 43 Limited;
nothing in this test tells anything about the lens plastic, 3D rendition - the design
philosophy behind the lens. Its final score put in in mediocre camp; nothing could be
further from the truth. Likewise, the FA* 80-200/2.8 is lousy; about the level of the
worst 28-200 zooms according the Photodo. However, only rave rewievs have come from
people who have actually used the lens. Who are you going to trust?
 Its like those audio equipment tests that only do measurements and no listening.
There are so many parameters for a lens performance. Often significant variations is
these parameters with focusing distance. I've never seen any test taken this in to
consideration. It can make a major difference.
NB I do not claim or expect that people should believe anything I say about lenses.
Disagreement based on personal experience is definitely welcomed but I do not put much
faith in diverging opinion based on tests that at best are very inadequate.
