As luck would have it, I own a Kiron 28/2.0 in K-mount and am looking to
sell it. I'm drowning in manual-focus fast 28s: Sigma 28/1.8, Vivitar
Series 1 28/1.9, the Kiron, and (finally!) the Pentax SMC 28/2.0.
I paid $100 from a Canadian shop in July 2000. It was conservatively rated
8+. It looks immaculate, in fihish, glass, and function, with one
exception: It takes considerable effort to lock it into the mount,
suggesting that the flange tolerance is slightly off. (It has not affected
the photo quality, however.) For this reason, I will sell it to a list
member for $75 plus shipping.
Actually, the 28/2.0 Kiron is not so difficult to come by in K-mount.
There's currently one rated EX+ that is going for $135 at EP Levine
(http:/www.Cameras.com, believe it or not). And I'm almost certain that
Henry's in Canada (http;//www.henrys.com), where I bought mine, still
advertises one or two of them in 8 or 8+.
As a point of refernce, in 1986, a Bi-Rite ad sold the Kiron 28/2 for $62,
the Vivitar 28/Close Focus for $75.
