The Limited line was perhaps paying attention to some of us old K-mount users, who love metal barrels, very high optically standards, good looks, lasting quality. The *ist's are for the next generation, who want features and specs and lifestyle products. A year or two ago, PDML'ers were actually talking about an LX upgrade or a rangefinder for the LDT lenses.
