You know, even in a Pentax list full of Pentax users that seem to constantly denigrate Pentax, that is a bit over the top. Guess it is not surprise I am switching to the Canon Elan 7e. (Like I said, though, staying on list because may get a MX and/or am still interested in the *ist D.) Sure I can understand how those with a lot invested in M and K lenses are disappointed. But the *ist has, what? 16 segment metering and 11 auto focus points? Okay, the manual users are not impressed, and I would need to read reviews and see it myself, but some of us nearsighted older folks without perfect vision anymore need auto focus, and some of us also need auto focus for the things we like to shoot: animals, sports, etc. So that is NOT exactly a step down, regardless of people's disappointment. Sigh. If you want a Canon, buy a Canon. If you want a Nikon, buy a Nikon. Sorry, this list is starting to get to me. And I thought that *I* was a good at b__ching about things that disappointed me. These are CAMERA BRANDS. These are PRODUCTS made by COMPANIES. No product is perfect, and in a world of consumerism, brand loyalty is not important. Get the tool you need for whatever you need to do. These are not football teams to root for or something. The *ist is not a linebacker to read about in the National Inquirer. It's not someone sitting on the bench who has just been brought in. It's a camera. Marnie aka Doe Sorry, for the lousy mood. Never been a big sports fan, football, or baseball, or battling camera companies. or whatever.
