Having not used the 28-105mm but having used the older powerzoom 28-105mm which is reported to be the best of pentaxes 28-105mms, the 24-90mm blows it away. I tried a nikon 24-85mm today and was serverely disapointed. The pentax 24-90mm is so superior especailly in the area of distortion, flare and ghostings. Without a doubt i would recommend the 24-90mm. Plus the is not a lot of difference between 90 and 105mm but there is a lot of difference between 28 and 24mm. So much better for travel.
