Butch, you need a guide to the Character Set you are using in Windows. Each
is different in the range 128-255, whereas characters 0-127 are pretty much
standard. I don't readily know of a source on the Web - the older guides to
MS-DOS always had them in tables at the back of the book, but this useful
feature has probably now disappeared since we don't get printed guides to
software any more!
You can see the different characters by placing the following formula in an
Excel spreadsheet -
=CHAR(CELL("row",B1)-1)
starting at A1 and copying it down to A255. The cells will then display the
characters available with your character set. Similar formulae in any other
spreadsheet will do exactly the same.
